We want to share all of them with you, as you care about the environment and long-term health as much as you care about your own beauty.

TOMOKA

Hello, I am Tomoka. I left my home country of Japan before I reached the age of 20 to study for my degree in London. Southeast Asian Studies led me to travel to Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, learning the languages and their cultures in depth. After graduating, I ended up working in Bali and that is where I discovered my passion for spa and wellness for the first time. In the midst of the rapid growth of the spa industry in Asia, my fondest memory is of the traditional Balinese house where sarong-clad women were busy in their kitchens cooking body scrubs and massage oils. We used fresh herbs and edible ingredients, pounding and grinding the fresh mixture each day.

Several years later, I attended a perfumery and product formulation course at a university in Thailand. But as much as I was fascinated by the process of formulation, I was disturbed by the amount of chemicals that went into the products. Since the early spa boom days, the industry had evolved from offering mere relaxation to focusing on total wellness, yet little were we, the spa professionals, aware of the danger of chemicals in the products. I realised that product formulation was something that we all assumed required expertise and therefore did not question. This in 2010, and I started making my own personal care products.

I am a certified Aromatherapist, and use my professional background in, anatomy and physiology, spa cuisine, perfumery, and cosmetic formulation when creating safe and effective products in my kitchen

Homemade Skincare

Homemade Skincare

I started making homemade personal care products in my kitchen in 2010 because I wanted to avoid the danger of chemicals. As I gradually reduced the use of commercially available products and switched to freshly made, mostly edible homemade skincare products, results were beyond expectation! I have never had any break-out since, and honestly my skin never looked and felt better. What’s more, homemade product saved me lot’s of money and it is so much easier than you thin

Family - what matters most!

Homemade skincare products do not serve only for women as beauty care. I love creating safe and effective products for my children, my husband, my parents and friends too. It is a wonderful way to establish connection with your loved ones as you select the right ingredients and customise recipes to suit each person. And making of products can be so much fun and educational with children. My two daughters have been making and using homemade products since very young age, and become aware of the dangers of chemicals, their impact on the environment as well as the genuine gifts that nature brings to us

Spa and Wellness

I first sepped into Spa & Wellness in 1997 as the manager of the very first Day Spa in Bali. Since, I opened and led some of the most prestige award-winning spas in Asia. I use my professional background and trainings from holistic therapies, anatomy & physiology, perfumery, natural cosmetic formulations, aromatherapy and even spa cuisine to curate unique and effective approach to holistic wellness – choice of ingredients, recipes, and home therapies.

Cultural Roots in Asia

My inspiration comes from my childhood memories in my home country, Japan – deeply rooted wellness culture, contemplative lifestyle, traditional ceremonies and wild herbs and ingredients that my grandmother taught me as beauty ingredients. I also learnt traditional beauty regimen and wellness rituals in other parts of Asia while living in Indonesia (my second home country where I spent nearly 10 years), Thailand, and now in Singapore. There are so many best-kept secret unknown to the western world and worthwhile sharing!
